Southsea Folk And Roots Festival 2005 Thursday 25th - Monday 29th August (Bank Holiday weekend) The following great acts have been confirmed as appearing at the evening events of this year's Southsea Folk And Roots Festival, to be held at South Parade Pier, Southsea. Your festival compere, GEORGE WILSON will be introducing.... THURSDAY: LIGHTNIN' WILLIE & THE POORBOYS supported by BURNT ICE (£8) FRIDAY: JULIE FELIX supported by JOSIE WATTS (£10) SATURDAY: THE JOHN OTWAY BIG BAND supported by COLVIN QUARMBY and MURRAY TORKILDSEN (£10) SUNDAY: THE AMY WADGE BAND supported by ARLEN ACOUSTIC (£10) MONDAY: THE HAMSTERS supported by JON AMOR (£10) Also on the Pier there will also be free daytime folk and roots events on Saturday and Sunday, including BEX MARSHALL, RORY ELLIS, DEB SANDLAND, AMALTHEA, CRANE RIVER CAJUNS, THE MICKY KEMP BAND and GEORGE WILSON, and a free daytime blues event on Monday with WHITE KNUCKLE BLUES BAND. MO THOMAS, RUCKUS BLUES, THE JELLY ROLLERS and ROBIN BIBI. The free entertainment commences at 12.30 THE WIDDERS, Chepstow's very own alternative biker Morris dance team, will be popping up all over the place over the weekend. There will also be fringe events every evening from Friday to Monday inclusive at The R.M.A. Tavern, Cromwell Road, Eastney, and the festival's official pub, The Florence Arms, Florence Rd., Southsea, just off the seafront. Friday: R.M.A. Tavern: Roger Courtney's Ryhthm & Roots roadshow, presented by Nick Courtney Friday: The Florence Arms: Acousticat Saturday: R.M.A. Tavern: Rory Ellis, Australian singer songwriter Sunday: The Florence Arms: "Tongue & Grooves": Spoken word and music Monday: R.M.A. Tavern: Denise Marie: New Orleans blues singer &guitarist. A season ticket at only £40, gives unlimited entry to all festival events, whilst a weekend ticket giving unlimited entry to all events on Saturday, Sunday and Monday is just £25.
