BAD INFLUENCE- TONIGHT - Thursday 2nd June, Bullfrog Blues Club, South Parade Pier, Southsea. Bad Influence were second on the bill to Sherman Robertson at Fort Purbrook's "Blues At The Fort" last year, and made such an impresson that they're returning this year to headline this major event in the U.K blues calendar. However, you can see them first at Southsea's Bullfrog Blues Club at South Parade Pier on Thursday, 2nd June. Bad Influence were formed around ten years ago by founder members Val Cowell on vocals and guitar, and Richard Hayes on lead/slide guitar. The West Coast influenced four-piece have rocked the contemporary rock circuit for a decade, consistently proving themselves to be one of London's tightest and most exciting bands, with a dedicated army of followers attending their shows. Although retain a gutsy R&B flavour, Bad Influence touch on many musical tastes, and their music is an intriguing blend of styles; predominantly blues/rock, with hints of both country and funk. Mixing original songs with carefully chosen cover versions from Janis Joplin, ZZ Top, Fleetwood Mac, Bonnie Raitt and the Doobie Brothers, along with lesser known artists, full use is made of Val's powerful vocal style and Richard's dynamic slide playing. The line-up of the band has seen members of The Pretenders, Simply Red, Foreigner, Simple Minds and Meatloaf alongside Val and Richard. Currently featured are Harry James on drums and Chris Childs on bass, a first-class rhythm section that regularly sees action with Thunder and Paul Young. BAD INFLUENCE appear on Thursday 2nd June at The Bullfrog Blues Club, South Parade Pier, Southsea. Doors open 8 p.m. Tickets (£8) are available on the door .
