Big Time Rollers, Bullfrog Blues Club, 7.7.05

I'm just back from The Bullfrog, where we had a brilliant night from the
incomparable Little Toby Walker - what a guitarist, what a character, what a
gig! If you weren't here, WHY NOT????? This man is soooo good, you missed a
classic night. Don't miss him next time he comes over.

Mind you, next Thursday's Bullfrog (7th July) is going to be a cracker too,
albeit very different than Little Toby Walker, when we present, for the very
first time, a relatively new band, taken from the cream of musicians both
local and not-so-local..... Ladies and gentlemenn, I give you The Big Time
Rollers.....

The Big Time Rollers heritage comes from top Portsmouth bands such as the
Continentals, Blue Bazookas, Busted Fender, and The Big Easy. The single aim of
the band is to play music that people want to hear and dance too. The
powerhouse rhythm section of Russ Tarley and Tim Nowell is complemented by Colin
Jones (lead guitar) and Dave Marlow (keyboards). The horns are driven by Steve
Howard (tenor sax), Steve Grainger (alto sax), Jon Gooding (baritone sax),
Dave Thomas (trombone), and Dave Davies (trumpet). The band is led by the
incomparable Steve ‘Sugar Bee’ Geary.
Musical influences range from blues, soul, reggae, rock, and jazz and this
is reflected in the varied set-list that the band play
Last September the band played for Richard Branson at his Virgin Party held
for his staff and customers. The stage, sound, and lighting system was the
same one used at Reading Rock festival a few weeks earlier.
The whole of this band is greater than the sum of the parts. If you like
turbo-charged brass driven songs then this band is the one to see.
So....see you at The Bullfrog!!!!!
J.R (Da Barkin' Spidah).
