Bullfrog Blues Club, South Parade Pier, Southsea, Thurs 20th Jan: SPIKEDRIVERS The SPIKEDRIVERS are back at The Bullfrog! I'm sure everyone who saw this outstanding band's storming gig at The Bullfrog last year will be back, and hopefully telling their friends that this is one not to be missed! Taking inspiration from their American roots, The Spikedrivers’ songwriting, vocal harmonies and unique instrumentation combine to produce all the ingredients of a fresh and exciting blues band. Ben Tyzack (guitar, vocals & harmonica) was raised in Charleston, South Carolina. After years playing in bands honing his fingerpicking and slide playing, Ben formed the Spikedrivers in 1992, together with Constance Redgrave on bass guitar, vocals & percussion and Maurice McElroy on drums, vocals & percussion. Constance Redgrave is from Hollywood, California, and has played with Otis Grand, Steve Cropper, Anson Funderburgh, Hank Wangford, Chris Jagger, Pierre La Rue, Wes McGhee, Boo Hewerdine and The Colin John Band among many others. Maurice McElroy (nicknamed 'The Groove Meister' by the Earl Green Band) is from Belfast, Northern Ireland, and his credits include Otis Grand, Larry Garner, Philip Walker, Robert Ward, Guitar Shorty, Wes McGhee, Kimmie Rhodes, Lee Sankey, The Colin John Band, and The Earl Green Band. The Spikedrivers appear at The Bullfrog Blues Club on South Parade Pier, Southsea on Thursday 20th January. Doors open at 8 p.m. Tickets available on the door or in advance from (023) 9286 3911.
