The response and generosity of the local community and businesses for The
Asian
Quake Appeal Charity Concert at Wedgewood Rooms on 19th January has been
overwhelming. The press, radio and TV have been kind enough to carry pieces
and are likely to continue to do so up until the night.
Amongst the artistes appearing will be Saturday Night Beaver, the excellent
blues band The Mustangs, top folk rock band Arlen, (Mike Harding "Folk on 2"
Young Folk Awards finalists), the great Bob Dylan tribute band Obviously Five
Believers, lo-fi Americana band
the-low-country, and singer songwriters Rosalie Deighton & Andy Comley.
Lisa Redford has just been added to the line up - a superb singer song writer
who can list BBC Radio 2's Bob Harris amongst her supporters!
Tickets for the Asian Quake Appeal Charity Concert are just £10.00 - not a
lot when
you think of what your money can do, and all proceeds go to The Disaster
Emergency
Committee. Even the artistes are paying £10 entry to play! Absolutely NO-ONE
is making any money from this concert. The Wedgewood Rooms have given the
venue for free and the staff are donating their wages to the appeal.
Doors open at 7.00pm and showtime is 7.30pm, so see you at The Wedgewood
Rooms, Portsmouth on Wednesday 19th January.
