A MESSAGE FROM THE GUTTER BROTHERS

Some CD's and a live show in Southsea from The Gutter Brothers!!

Hello everyone! First of all, a massive "oh sorry" that it's taken so long to
get ourselves together about CDs and replying and stuff. Sadly, this is not
our livelihood anymore, and somehow, every day's normal stuff seems to get in
the way of the extra things in life - you know what I mean.

Hey, anyway, first a huge hello and thank you to all of you for contacting
us, telling us your lovely stories and memories from those distant days - it's
quite emotional, and sometimes even spooky reading your mails, and always a
thrill to think we made a small ripple in so many lives - thanks. If you’ve
already found us and ordered CDs, thank you, and hope to see you next year.

Now, business - this thing ain't gonna work on its own, now. You have to join
in. I've finally re-mastered all the albums - even the ones that didn't
exist. ("The Lost Album" especially - see the website www.gutterbrothers.co.uk).

The obvious don't need much explaining - the track listings are all on the
website .

The quirkier ones are fun, "Rudebelly's Review" being a strange live
concoction of New Orleansness we threw together to say farewell to Tony, and "Frank"
being the embryo twin of the GBs who never quite made it through. Much more a
rock thing, still the incredible lyrics of Dennis Johnson, and the amazing
Rudevoice. Those of you who are after "Summer in the City" need to order the
"Failsafe" EP or "Already Dead" (or both!!).

A note about the recordings. I dug out all the original masters I could, and
stuff like "Iso metric Boogie", "Gone to Dogs" and "Already Dead" and
"Failsafe" were straightforward enough. They've all benefitted from the advancements
in technology since they were made, and they're a joy to hear. Isometric
especially sounds fatter than before, punchier than it was on tape.

"Frank" is a collection of demos for the proposed band, all recorded with Jez
Coad, who did all the GB stuff, and I've gleaned them all together from
different sessions at different times.

The Lost Album really was nearly lost - Island Records having paid for it,
but never finished it, and I rescued it from some rough cassette mixes we were
smart enough to pop in our pockets at the end of a session. Consequently it's
hissier than a CD might be, and the mixes were never finished to mastering
point - but it's the only place we have that set of songs. Whilst some made it out
onto later records in other forms, others, such as Mother Primeval, Tongue
Tied, Murder, Conventional Arms, Ferris Wheel, Lyin bout the Blues, Happy for
You - only exist on this album. Happily saved for posterity!! And Rudebelly's
Review is about as live as it gets - straight off the mixing desk in the venue
onto a tape - what re-mix? But it mastered up good, and the fun on that
recording is touchable.

So, all of the below are now available from me - email me at this address.
Please add 1 pound for P&P up to two discs (if you’re ordering more than two
discs, email me, and I’ll let you know the postage), and make cheques payable to
me, Chris Cawte at 121 The Street, Boughton, Faversham, Kent ME13 9BH. You've
got my email for direct queries.

We managed to make a few quid at The Mean Fiddler, so we could pass a chunk
on to Dennis' family to set up whatever seems right to them, and we will
continue to pay Dennis' share of all sales and gigs in the same way, just so as you
know what it all do. In that regard, a huge thanks to you all, we are moved by
the messages and support we are getting, and it's fun getting all the stuff
back out again, and I hope there'll be some smiling folk when you get your
discs!
