Mon 14th ROBIN TROWER BAND supported by JON AMOR (£12) Throughout his
career, Robin Trower has had to endure countless comparisons to Jimi Hendrix,
due to his uncanny ability to channel Hendrix's bluesy psychedelic, Fender
Strat-fueled playing style. In 1967 Trower joined Procul Harum, who scored a
smash hit with "A Whiter Shade of Pale". However, there was limited space for
his guitar work, so in 1973 Trower left to form his own band. His debut
"Twice Removed From Yesterday" was followed by the classic "Bridge of Sighs",
which reached number seven in the U.S. Top Ten. Hit albums "For Earth Below",
"Robin Trower Live!", " Long Misty Days" and "In City Dreams" followed.
The Bullfrog date is a "warm up" gig to Trower's up and coming tour, and a
rare opportunity to see the maestro back in action. His new album "Living Out
Of Time" is released the same day.

Carl Black, one of The Mothers Of Invention's founder members, the self
proclaimed "Indian Of The Group". Jimmy appeared with Frank Zappa and The Mothers Of
Invention on countless albums and singles and appeared in the movie "200
Motels" with Zappa, Ringo Starr and Keith Moon.
Thurs 17th (Bullfrog Blues Club): SINNERBOY (£7) A tribute to Rory Gallagher
- on St Patrick's Day!!
Sat 19th SHANE MACGOWAN AND THE POPES supported by LADY WINWOODS MAGGOTT
(£18.50). A St Patrick's weekend special!
Singer/songwriter Shane MacGowan together with his friend Spider Stacey,
formed The Pogues, hotwiring Irish traditional music with the energy and passion
of punk. The band quickly developed into one of the most respected and
colourful bands of their era, scoring a number of U.K. hits including "A Pair of
Brown Eyes" and "Fairytale of New York" and recording some superb LP's.
However, as stories of MacGowan's appetite for drink and drugs swelled, he
left the band. but in 1994 pulled himself together to form a new band, The
Popes. After making their St. Patrick's Day debut performance at a London
pub, the group recording their first LP, "The Snake", later followed by "A
Crock Of Gold".
MacGowan also had a minor hit with "Haunted," a gorgeous duet with Sinead
O'Connor. The latest album is "Shane MacGowan and the Popes Live", which
documents two St. Patricks Day gigs. You can experience a unique St Patrick's
extravaganza at South Parade Pier when Shane MacGowan & The Popes play a Saturday
night gig, two days after St. Patrick's Day. To quote one of Shane's immortal
lines - "lend me £10 and I'll buy you a drink"!
THIS ONE WILL SELL OUT -one of only four dates, Get your tickets NOW!!!!!
Thurs 24th (Bullfrog Blues Club) AYNSLEY LISTER BAND (£8)
Aynsley Lister proves that you don't have to be a middle aged black man at
death's door to play the blues convincingly and extremely competently. Aynsley
played his first semi professional gig at 13, and shortly after played
support to Coco Montoya's band in San Francisco, and at 18, put his first band
together.
In 1988 he was promptly snapped up by Ruf Records, and recorded the 'Aynsley
Lister' album. On the album was a collaboration with blues demi-God Walter
Trout on Gary Moore's 'Since I Met You Baby' - pure plank spankin' heaven, and
Aynsley shone in Trout's company, as he has when he has supported, amongst
others, such heavyweights as Buddy Guy, Jools Holland, John Mayall, Robert Cray
and Bryan Adams.
We're proud to say his live solo album "Supakev and Pilchards" was recorded
at The Bullfrog Blues Club.
