We're delighted to welcome The Robin Bibi Band back to The Bullfrog Blues
Club on South Parade Pier this Thursday. His last visit was nothing short of
sensational.
Robin is a seasoned professional and one of the finest blues guitarists in
London - artists he has backed include Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, Ben E King and
Helen Shapiro.
His own heroes include Albert King, Peter Green, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi
Hendrix, Earl Hooker, Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, Otis Redding, James Brown,
Wes Montgomery, Django Reinhardt, Steve Vai and Joe Satriani. Like any great
performer he has soaked up these styles and blended them into something all of
his own!
He formed the Robin Bibi Band in 1996, and because of the band's growing
reputation and a highly entertaining stage presentation, the Robin Bibi Band are
becoming one of the busiest bands on the circuit, and have succesfully broken
into the festival scene.
The Robin Bibi Band's live line up is the tried and tested trio format, which
gives each member the space to stretch out and express themselves musically.
Usually it's Hans Ferrao (the flying Dutchman) on drums and Tony Marten on
bass, but the line-up's occasionally subject to occasional regional changes,
and Robin can be seen playing with some of the best musicians around including
Geoff Cooper, Martin York, Paul Robinson, Chris Bellshaw, Pete Shaw, Jonathan
Banks, Darby Todd and Ed Spevok.
It's exuberant passionate, dynamic, exciting and fun! It's music played
straight from the heart, it will move your head, your heart and of course your
feet!
Blues, funk, soul, rock, reggae and jazz are all rolled together in The Robin
Bibi Band's own concoction which can be heard on the band's first album 'Blue
Thrash Therapy' a mixture of the bands most requested songs from the live
set, and their own original songs.
'Blue Thrash Therapy received excellent reviews and extensive airplay. The
second album 'Language Of Your Soul'further explored the band's song writing
potential.
See you at The Bullfrog! Doors open at 8 p.m as usual, tickets available on
the door.
