Consistently quoted as The Greatest Live Rock Album Ever, Thin Lizzy's 'Live & Dangerous' double album will be 25 years 'young' this year. In capturing the next-best-thing-to-being-there essence and danger of how a rock performance should be executed, numerous polls still indicate that both press and public still heartily agree that the album still sounds as fresh, vital and timeless as if it was just released, hot off the presses. To celebrate this, and their own 10th anniversary, Limehouse Lizzy, the band generally acknowledged to be the number one tribute to Thin Lizzy, will be recreating the 'Live & Dangerous' set at selected venues around the country this year. 'Live & Dangerous' time-stamped what transpired to be the start of Thin Lizzy's mass-appeal, showcasing live chart hits from what eventually came to be recognised as one of the earliest pop/rock crossover bands, pre-cursing Bon Jovi and the like by a decade and more. The presence of chart favourites 'Jailbreak', 'Dancing In The Moonlight', 'Don't Believe A Word' and of course the even-today phenomenally successful 'The Boys Are Back In Town', as well as the perennial AOR radio favourite 'Rosalie' are almost certainly what accounted for a 46 week album chart residency. Thin Lizzy, with the help of their unmistakable charismatic frontman Phil Lynott, dominated the story of Irish rock in the 1970s and laid the foundations for the massive achievements of many contemporary Irish acts. Their influence can be detected in everything from U2 to the Corrs and, such was the range and genre-defining power of Lynott and his colleagues, they came to shape much of the output of Irish musicians over succeeding decades. Acknowledged today as an influence by many a contemporary artist, Lynott himself is slowly, but surely, becoming recognised for the tremendous impact he made on his art. His often difficult and arduous journey as he battled with both racism and his own internal demons is one that cannot fail to move, especially in view of his tragically early death in 1986. Yet, rather than view his often tempestuous life in negative terms, the breathtaking heights to which he took his music are something that continues to inspire and enthrall all who hear it. This legacy, cherished and celebrated by Limehouse Lizzy with genuine enthusiasm, helps to explain much of their current success. Since their formation, Limehouse Lizzy have gained a tremendous, and growing, following. Their current fan base has a mailing list which stands at over 7500, and they are approaching 80,000 hits on their website www.limehouselizzy.com at the time of writing. This informative site is open to all fans and prospective fans. It features news, photo galleries, up-to-the-minute tour info and other merchandise. Their use of the web has allowed them to reach ever greater number of Thin Lizzy fans that warm to the tribute band's obvious love and respect for the original material. Limehouse Lizzy have also been extremely busy gigging up and down the country, after finishing 2003's 'Dancing In The Moonlight' tour, which followed on from what has been described as the "phenomenal" success of their 'Live Killers' 2001 tour. Both tours saw gigs being held in Eire, the United Kingdom, Europe and the Middle East. They also featured on the documentary "Inside Track", their growing following and global success having attracted the attention of the BBC. Limehouse Lizzy play at South Parade Pier on the 14th October 2004 as part of their "Live and Dangerous Tour", which will take in a number of countries including the UK, Eire, Germany, Belgium, Holland, Czechoslovakia and the United Arab Emirates.
