Bullfrog Blues Club, South Parade Pier - this Thursday - Mo ' Indigo
Formed in 1997, one of Mo' Indigo's first gigs was an appearance at The
Great British R&B Festival, and the band have returned at every year since to
growing acclaim.
The band’s debut CD "We Accuse The Blues" came out in 1999, and Mo' Indigo
are now acknowledged as one of the UK's best blues bands, as well as one of
the hardest working bands on the circuit.
Whilst Mo' Indigo have continued their relationship as backing band for some
of the very finest American R & B acts, including Lou Pride, Earl Gaines,
Al Garner and Charles Walker, 2004 has also seen the band undertake three tours
as opening act for Texan blues legend Sherman Robertson, backing Chick
Willis, and opening for Larry Garner, Angela Brown, John Mayall and Nashville
songwriter/guitarist Fred James.
They've also been advancing their reputation into previously uncharted
territories like Scotland and Denmark, and continuing to promote their 'Are We
There Yet?' CD.
Vocalist Harry Lang, songwriter, occasional guitarist and sensational front
man is big on modern, literate, story telling blues. His songs have drawn
critical plaudits from Texas bluesman Sherman Robertson and top U.K. soul
producer James Anthony. One of Lang's songs "The Lights Are Out (In the House of
Love)" was nominated for Best Contemporary Blues song of 1996.
John Bulpitt, the bassist for the band, served an eight year stint with
blues-rockers Drive. before joing Mo' Indigo, whilst Tony Gill, who joined
Mo'Indigo at the beginning of July 2004, previously drummed with both of
Sheffield's finest R'n B outfits, Empty Bed, and The Frank White Band.
Keyboard player Frazer Wigg, a former member of The Desperate Dan Band,
joined in January 2003 and quickly made his mark with his Chicago-influenced
piano
stylings and dramatic Hammond-organ sounds.
Guitarist Robin Carr's first taste of the musical life was as a member of the
T Rex stage crew, and it wasn't until the mid-nineties that he formed his own
blues band Bad Luck and Trouble, who appeared at the Colne Blues Festival and
gigged regularly around the North London area. Robin joined Mo' Indigo in
early 2002 and has been a mainstay ever since.
You can see Mo Indigo at The Bullfrog Blues Club, Soyth Parade Pier,
Southsea, on Thursday 2nd June. Tictets available on the door. Doors open 8 p.m.
