BUDGIE fly back! South Parade Pier, Wednesday 1st December
Formed in 1967, British metal outfit BUDGIE have influenced countless bands,
and are often thought of as a cross between Black Sabbath and Rush.
With the emergence of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal movement, BUDGIE
headlined the Reading Festival in 1980 and 1982, before splitting up quietly
by the mid-'80s .
But almost as soon as they disbanded, several high-profile groups began
covering BUDGIE classics, including Metallica ("Crash Course in Brain Surgery"
and "Breadfan"), Iron Maiden ("I Can't See My Feelings"), and Soundgarden
("Homicidal Suicidal"), while back in their early days,Van Halen covered the title
track from "In for the Kill".
There have been several best-of BUDGIE compilations - "An Ecstasy of
Fumbling: The Definitive Anthology" (a double-disc set) and "Best of Budgie" (a
single disc), as well as the live sets "Heavier Than Air: Live on the BBC" and "We
Came We Saw" (the latter of which featured selections from both of their
Reading Festival appearances in the early '80s).
They've reformed are are still a force to be reckoned with - don't miss this
classic band!

Festival to great acclaim.
