Two top singer songwriters from Australia perform at The R.M.A. Tavern in Cromwell Road Eastney over the following week, and admission to both gigs is free! This Saturday Rory Ellis appears, back from his native Australia on tour once again. He's been performing sell out gigs this time around, but is back at The R.M.A. Tavern, as he enjoys himself so much there, having made many firm fans in the Portsmouth area. This summer, aided and abetted by Attila The Stockbroker, he performed a superb set at the G.L.C's Respect Festival in Roundwell Park, Willesden, London, where Shane Macgowan's band The Popes were topping the bill. Rory has a voice reminiscent of the vocalist for Crash Test Dummies, and armed with only an acoustic guitar intrigues audiences with a headfull of great compositions combined with an incredibly powerful delivery. Rory Ellis appears at The R.M.A. Taverm Cromwell Rd., Eastney on Saturday 20th November, and entry is free! On Tuesday it's the turn of Andy White, the man once dubbed "the Irish Bob Dylan" Andy was born and brought up in Belfast, Northern Ireland, but is now living in Australia. His first first single, 'Religious Persuasion', was released on Stiff Records in 1985 and instantly entered the charts. Since then Andy has recorded ten more solo albums, toured the world and won Ireland's top songwriting award. He has written with Peter Gabriel and Neil Finn, and toured with Van Morrison and Mary Black. In 1995 he formed the band ALT, along with Liam O Maonlai from Hothouse Flowers and Tim Finn of Crowded House. Andy's recent self-titled solo album featured Liam, and also Robert Malone from David Gray's band, and Nick Seymour of Crowded House. Andy White appears at The R.M.A. Taverm Cromwell Rd., Eastney on Tuesday 23rd November. Entry is free!
