Colvin Quarmby are perenniel favourites on the Portsmouth folk/roots scene, and when they graced the stage at the 2003 Southsea Folk & Roots Festival they shared the stage with The Phil Beer Band, and performed a stupendous gig. As many of you well know, Nick Quarmby is also a member of The Phil Beer Band, which made him one of the hardest working guys at the festival that year! This superb band were also a high spot at "Folk At The Abbey" at Titchfield this summer, and the good news is that they're appearing at The Southsea Folk & Roots Festival 2005! Watch this space for further details... If you can't wait that long - and who can blame you if can't - I'm delighted to tell you that Colvin Quarmby will be appearing at the Ashcroft Arts Centre in Fareham this coming Saturday, 13th November! They will be previewing songs from their new album "A Short Walk To The Red Lion" The album's title is a thinly veiled reference to one of the two pubs at Cropredy, where Fairport Convention hold probably the best folk festival in England every year (well...maybe a close second to Southsea Folk & Roots Festival....), yet another festival Colvin Quarmby have played to great acclaim. Tickets for this Saturday's Ashccroft Centre gig are available from the Ashcroft Centre Box Office, 01329 310600. J.R. The Barking Spider
