COUNTRY JOE BAND - tour starts next week!

Country Joe McDonald and The Country Joe Band

U.K. Tour 2004

Woodstock legend Country Joe McDonald is back on the road with  three of his
old band mates from Country Joe and the Fish., the seminal West Coast
psychedelic rock band.

They're playing two dates here in the South, The Venue@Ryde, Isle of Wight on
Sunday 6th June, and the following Sunday, 13th June at South Parade Pier,
Southsea.

In addition, during the afternoon before the Ryde concert, Joe and the band
will be at Ryde Castle Hotel, Ryde, at 1:30 pm, for "An Hour or So's Informal
Conversation with the Country Joe Band." Also a set  by up-and-coming
singer/songwriter BEX MARSHALL will be featured. Bex is supporting Bob Dylan at The
Fleadh this year!
Tickets available at the door - just £4.

Bassist Bruce Barthol, guitarist/keyboardist David Bennett Cohen and drummer
Gary "Chicken" Hirsh from Country Joe And The Fish reunited   with Country Joe
McDonald for dates on the West Coast of America in April, and to tour
England in June.

This is the first time these guys have been back together since the sixties,
and together with Barry Melton  made  the first three classic Country Joe And
The Fish albums "Electric Music For The Mind & Body", "I-Feel-Like -I'm Fixin'
-To-Die", and "Together".

"There's a sound that I've been unable to get with any other band that I've
had," said Joe. "These guys were part of the creation of the psychedelic sound
that Country Joe and the Fish were known for in the 60s. I'm looking forward
to playing the old Country Joe and the Fish repertoire as well as the new
material."

Bruce Barthol, resident composer/lyricist and musician for the Tony Award
winning San Francisco Mime Troupe says "There's a war going on, the country's
divided and it's feeling more like 1968 every day, so I wasn't totally surprised
to get a call from Joe. I had a lot of fun playing with those guys, and it's
great  doing it again."

David Cohen, recently honored by the Harper's Ferry NAACP with the Niagara
Centennial Committee Certificate of Appreciation, said, "I've been doing gigs
with Joe, and also with Bruce, but getting  the four of us together in the same
place at the same time is great."
David will be coming from New York and has had to re-arrange a crowded
schedule of recording and performing to take part in the reunion. "With the country
in the shape it's in, I think it's the right time to get together. By adding
our voice to the growing anti-war, anti-Bush movement, I hope to we can take
back our freedoms through dialogue and growing awareness," David added.

Chicken Hirsh, now living in Ashland where he's a painter and Southern
Oregon's resident jazz drummer, said "It's great to  hear what this band can do
with  more than three decades of musicianship behind us since we first played
together."
