Despite my recent e mail re Bill "Watermelon Slim" Homadn's appearance at The Bullfrog this Thursday, I'm afraid it's not to be after all. Below is an email from the tour promoter, John Adams..... Hello John I am so sorry but I have to bring you bad news...........I've never done this in the seven years I've been managing musicians but I've got to cancel Thursday with Watermelon Slim. Basically his voice is failing him.....he's lost his falsetto & he's begining to loose the rest of his range & I fear he won't be able to sing by Thursday. He may be coming down with a cold, but I think it's just the pressure of performing night after night for twelve straight nights. Slim sends his sincere apologies but I think it's better to come clean now rather than drop this on you on the day. At least you can advise your mailing list. I hope you understand John, it's a decision I wish I didn't have to make but I don't want him crocking himself nor do I want him doing a half-arsed gig. I feel awful about letting you down and anybody else later in the tour. Once again - I am truly sorry. John. I'm naturally disappointed that Watermelon Slim won't be appearing, but that's the name of the game, ill heatlh is not anything has any control over, and John Adams is one of the good guys in blues promoting, a gentleman swimming in a pool of sharks, so if he says it's not on, I back him 100% . Please rest assured I'll ensure that we have someone else of a good calibre appearing at The Bullfrog on Thursday- we've always pulled somethimg out of the hat and never cancelled a club night yet! I'm sure you'll bear with me in wishing Watermelon Slim a speedy recovery, and look forward to see him at The Bullfrog on a future tour.
