The Elevators appear at The Bullfrog Blues Club on Thursday 1st April, but we're not fooling to say this will be no ordinary gig, as they're playing with a brass section as "The Elevators Biggish Band"! The Elevators are a long established four piece of experienced, highly competent musicians, playing distinctively authentic and convincing electric urban blues, and have earned their reputation as one of the best electric blues bands performing regularly in England today. Their sound is deeply rooted in the Chicago style and sounds of the '50s and '60s, and cover the waterfront, from Robert Johnson to Robert Cray, visiting B.B. King, Otis Rush, and Buddy Guy along the way. Fans have described them as "a bit early Fleetwood Mac-ish" which is no bad thing! They have two superb, guitarists; Phil Greaves plays with polished and meticulous control - and John Whippy, with a style that pays homage to B.B. King and Peter Green. Bass is taken care of by Martin Robinson, held in check by the rock solid drumming of Michael Hill. For the Bullfrog gig they will be joined by a superb section of brass players, in order that they can perform a tribute to the great B.B. King and other performers of that particular genre of blues. The Elevators "Biggish Band" appear at The Bullfrog Blues Club, South Parade Pier,on Thursday 1st April.
