This Thursday (11th March) at The Bullfrog Blues Club, South Parade Pier,
Southsea, I'm delighted to say that Guy Tortora is appearing.
Guy appeared at The Bullfrog for the first time to perform a breathtaking
solo gig at South Parade Pier last January, and I'm pleased to say he'll be
back this Thursday with his band!
Guy was born in Pasadena, California, but these days lives in London. This
fine guitarist changes effortlessly between acoustic six string, a "Style N"
resonator guitar, and standard & bottleneck work on his Fender Strats, drawing
comparisons to Albert Collins and Ry Cooder. He plays a little bit of harp,
too!
Guy & the band are promoting Guy's album "Footnote to the Blues" around the
UK this year, then further afield. The current live show is electric &
acoustic blues of a fine order with G. T. on guitar, Brendan Canty on bass, Neil
Littman on drums, & Janos Bajtala on keyboards.
The release of "Footnote to the Blues" in 2002 saw favorable reviews in
the Blues Press in the UK & elsewhere in Europe, and was followed by gigs
around the blues clubs in the UK to an enthusiastic response from audiences.
Lets's start with comments from the man whose judgement I respect more than
any other U.K tour promoter.......
“Do NOT miss these guys - I'm serious - top international entertainment at
its best.” John Adams of the Bottleneck Club (U.K tour promoter of Ben
Andrews, Little Toby Walker, Geoff Achison, Delta Moon, etc. etc..)
"Well I've seen them, I've heard them, and they are a band to be reckoned
with; very entertaining and both I and the audience were truly satisfied. My
advice to promoters - book them, and to punters -go and see them !"
Lewis A Harris -- Dorchester Bluesnights Reviewer
"The album is great and the gig was even better. Eat your heart out if you
weren't there!"
"Blues in Britain"
"One of the most multi talented musicians touring the UK blues circuit."
