The bad news - Nikos Brisco won't be appearing at The R.M.A. Tavern in Cromwell Rd., Southsea on Tuesday 29th June as he's had to go back to the U.S.A. early..... The GOOD news is that ARLEN will be there instead! This awesomely talented band are the best thing to hit the folk roots scence from this area in years... the band's acoustic guitarist/vocalist David Newey and vocalist Lucy Rutherfold were finalists in the prestigious B.B.C. Radio 2 Young Folk Awards last year, with their stunning versions of "The Unquiet Grave" and David Newey's own composition "Dear Ann". They were the hit of the recent three day "Jockstock" Festival. Geoff Wall, who runs Radio Solent's folk roots programme and respected contributor to "Folk On Tap" magazine said "Enjoyed Saturday afternoon's JOCKSTOCK programme, especially ARLEN whom I thought were absolutely magnificent. They were a real find". So - come and find them yourselves (if you haven't already!) at The R.M.A. Tavern, Cromwell Rd., Southsea on Tuesday 29th June! Admission is free and the beer is great!
