ANDY WHITE -  Tonight, Tuesday 22nd June

An absolute coup for the R.MA!

Irish songwriter Andy White was born and grew up in Belfast, Northern 
Ireland. He wrote his first poem when he was nine entitled 'Riots' and picked 
up a 
guitar aged 13 after hearing John Lennon singing 'Give Peace A Chance'. 

"Religious Persuasion', his first single, was released in 1985 and instantly 
entered the charts. Loudly acoustic and precociously word-filled,  Andy's 
first solo album 'Rave on Andy White' wquiclky followed  Since then Andy has 
recorded nine more solo albums, toured the world and won Ireland's top 
songwriting 
award. 

He has written with Peter Gabriel and Neil Finn, and toured with Van Morrison 

and Mary Black. In 1995, along with his mates Liam O Maonlai (Hothouse 
Flowers) and Tim Finn (Crowded House) he formed ALT, recording the album 
'Altitude'. 
The band have toured  Australia, New Zealand, Europe and North America. 

Andy's new self-titled solo album  also includes  Liam O Maonlai,  togehter 
with Robert Malone of  David Gray's band, and Nick Seymour from Crowded 
House.
