LINE UP FOR THE FEBRUARY SOUTHSEA FOLK ROCK WEEKEND NOW FULLY CONFIRMED!!!! We've now confirmed the lineup for the afternoon concert at South Parade Pier, Southsea on Sunday 23rd February, which is sandwiched neatly between FAIRPORT CONVENTION the night before, and prior to FEAST OF FIDDLES on the Sunday evening! Doors will open at 1230 pm. and appearing will be SONS OF THE DELTA (acoustic blues duo from Gloucester who in another life were members of The Dockery Boys with Colvin Quarmby), MARY JANE, (a brilliant fiddle driven celtic band), BEN PALEY & TAB HUNTER (a superb red hot traditional guitar and fiddle duo), KEHEJA, (Southampton-based five piece band who play a mix of acoustic-based blend of jazz, folk, psychedelia with a distinctly retro feel), and PERFECT STRANGERS (the first outing for this top singer-songwriter RON TRUEMAN-BORDER's new band) Tickets are just £4 on the door, but you could make a weekend of it - buy a ticket for FEAST OF FIDDLES for Sunday 22nd Feb AND a ticket for FAIRPORT CONVENTION the previous night - Saturday 21st February (normally £14) for £25 the pair. This will also give you FREE entry to an afternoon of great music before "FEAST OF FIDDLES" This offer is only available for postal applications to Barking Spider Promitons, or produce a FAIRPORT CONVENTION and a FEAST OF FIDDLES ticket on on Saturday night at the door on the night of the FAIRPORT CONVENTION concert and you'll get your Sunday afternoon ticket FREE! FAIRPORT CONVENTION have appeared at South Parade Pier in February for the last four years now, and it's become one of the highlights of the folk music year! Last year it was the turn of FAIRPORT ACOUSTIC, but this year the full band are back with us! THE FEAST OF FIDDLES consists of some of the best fiddle players in the country playing with a folk rock based backing band. IAN CUTLER (Bully Wee/The Hot Rats and guesting with Fairport Convention - also responsible for the music on the cult film "The Wicker Man") TOM LEARY (Little Johnny England, and guesting with Fairport Convention) CELINE DONAGHUE (Royal Academy of Scottish Music and Dance) SIMON MORAN (Royal Academy of Scottish Music and Dance) with...... DAVE MATTACKS: drums (Fairport Convention/Steeleye Span/Paul McCartney/Chris Rea/Mary Chapin Carpenter). HUGH CRABTREE: melodeon and vocals (Whittakers Patent Remedy) MARTIN VINCENT: lead guitar (Albion Band/ Whittakers Patent Remedy). DAVE HARDING: bass.
