THE FEAST OF FIDDLES consists of some of the best fiddle players in the
country playing with a folk rock based backing band. They only get together once
a year in the early spring becuase of other band commitments, and they'll be
at South Parade Pier, Southsea on 22nd February!! Just LOOK at the
lineup!!!!!!!
This year the fiddle players include....
PHIL BEER (Show Of Hands & The Phil Beer Band).
PETER KNIGHT (Steeleye Span)
BRIAN MCNEILL (Battlefield Band/Clan Alba - also head of Scottish Music at
the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Dance in Glasgow) .
JOE BROUGHTON (Albion Band)
GARRY BLAKELEY (Band Of Two/The Tabs).
IAN CUTLER (Bully Wee/The Hot Rats and guesting with Fairport Convention -
also responsible for the music on the cult film "The Wicker Man")
TOM LEARY (Little Johnny England, and guesting with Fairport Convention)
This year's (2004) FEAST OF FIDDLES will also feature two of Brian McNeill's
students from The Royal College of Scottish Music and Dance.
This year the rest of the band consist of ....
DAVE MATTACKS: drums (Fairport Convention/Steeleye Span/Paul McCartney/Chris
Rea/Mary Chapin Carpenter).
HUGH CRABTREE: melodeon and vocals (Whittakers Patent Remedy)
MARTIN VINCENT: lead guitar (Albion Band/ Whittakers Patent Remedy).
DAVE HARDING: bass.
