THE CADILLAC KINGS - Bullfrog Blues Club, South Parade Pier, Thurs 16th Dec. The Cadillac Kings are the number one swing/ blues outfit playing in the UK. They play blues, swing, boogie, jive & rock ‘n’ roll with simple intentions ) - their mission statement is for the audience to have as much fun on the dance-floor as they do up on the stage. Mike Thomas (vocals and slide guitar) has been making music since the 1970's and was the co-founder of The Poorboys, one of the first and best British outfits to revel in the musical styles of Louisiana, from Cajun and Zydeco to New Orleans Gumbo.Mike's shared a stage with Los Lobos, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Georgie Fame, Dr Feelgood and many more. Gary Potts plays harmonica with enormous enthusiasm and a great feel on both diatonic and chromatic harps, producing the big fat ‘warm’ tone associated with classic amplified harp. Gary is widely recognised as one of the UK’s best harp-players. Guitarist Oliver Darling is a highly talented musician with an understanding & feel for postwar rhythm & blues, with a style reminiscent of T-Bone Walker, B.B. King & Pee Wee Clayton, Junior Watson & Ronnie Earl. Oliver is also a pretty good boogie pianist! Double bassist Orlando ‘Orly’ Shearer was previously with The Otis Grand Band and has also worked with James Hunter, Big Joe Louis, Errol Linton and The Blackjacks. Drummer Roy Webber joined Wes Weston’s Bluesonics in 1994, and since then has gigged with Big Joe Louis, Little George Sueref, Johnny Mars & Gwyn Ashton. At other times Roy has sat on the drum stool withThe Animals, Eddie & The Hotrods, The Yardbirds, Gary Moore’s Band, The Big Town Playboys & Paul Lamb & The Kingsnakes. The Cadillac Kings’ keyboard player is Mike Adcock, a hugely experienced pianist & virtuoso New Orleans stylist. Mike’s fondness for all things Louisiana extends to the accordion, of which he is, without doubt, one of the top ‘Zydeco’ players in the UK.
