DEL BROMHAM: Bullfrog Blues Club, South Parade Pier, Thursday 9th December In the late 1960s the first wave of heavy guitar idols was usually Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck, but Del Bromham, founder member of heavy rock band Stray, somehow slipped through the net. Stray released the classic rock albums "Suicide", "Saturday Morning Pictures", "Mudanzas", "Houdini" and the single "All In Your Mind". UK tours supporting American band Kiss and Canadian rockers Rush, reflected the immense popularity of Stray, led by Del’s playing and writing. Inexplicably, the band somehow failed to become the superstars they deserved, despite a number of successful album and single releases, and after a while they called it a day. However, due to renewed interest in Stray following the phenomenal popularity of their reissued back catalogue, early in 1997 Del Bromham decided to reform the band. A live album "(Alive & Giggin'') was releasedthat same year, and in 1998 "New Dawn", (the first new studio album from the band in twenty years) was released. In 2001 Stray toured with rock legends Uriah Heap and Nazareth, followed by two hugely successful tours with Leslie West’s Mountain, including shows and festivals in Germany and Scandinavia. 2003 saw Stray off to Spain with Y+T and then across Europe as special guests on the sold out Iron Maiden tour. Their latest album, "Live: In Yer Face" was released together with the double CD "Anthology" in time for the tour. Del Bromham remains a guitar heavy weight after 35 years on the boards. Del's solo show comes on the back of an extensive tour with Mountain guitarist Leslie West. Playing a mix of electric and acoustic blues as well as re-arranged favourites, Del shows he's lost none of his fiery playing ability or good humour. In March this year Del completed his first blues based solo album "Devil's Highway", released to coincide with another European Tour with Leslie West. Since then, Del has appeared once more at Sweden's prestigious Silja Rock Festival and is currently touring the UK both as a solo artist and along with his band performing songs from "Devil's Highway" along with classic blues numbers - and some Stray favourites! DEL BROMHAM appears at The Bullfrog Blues Club, South Parade Pier, Thursday 9th December. Doors open 8 p.m.
