Keith James: an evening with Nick Drake -South Parade Pier, Wednesday 18th August Keith James, acknowledged as the finest interpreter of the work of late lamented Nick Drake, is about to embark on his second tour performing Nick Drake's songs live on stage, and will be bringing his tribute to Nick Drake to South Parade Pier on Wednesday. Previous tours across the country saw audiences filling Arts Centres and theatres to hear this music again. Nick Drake himself, was at the time of his writing and recording, somewhat of a mystery to all. Painfull, full of personal doubt and troubles, lonely and insular, he only lived to record three full albums - "Five Leaves Left", "Bryter Later" and "Pink Moon". It has only been in the last ten years that many thousands of listeners have come to appreciate his beauty. Nick Drake has now, thankfully become the most revered of all contemporary English singer/songwriters, and Keith James' tribute is not only a reminder of the huge talent that was Nick Drake, but also provokes thoughts of what Nick might have been capable of today. Support will be by Amrit Sond, and Portsmouth's own Josie Watts will open the evening. Keith James: an evening with Nick Drake is at South Parade Pier, on Wednesday 18th August - doors open at 8.p.m. Tickets just £7, from Reflex Records, albert Rd., Southsea, or Wedgewood Rooms Box Office, (023) 9286 3911.
