Monday 16.8.04: The R.M.A. Tavern, Cromwell Rd., Eastney. SWEET BELIEVERS - with Jon Amor & Matt Beable from AMOR!!!, Fliss Downs debuts her new band Sweet Believers at The R.M.A. Tavern on Monday, with a stellar line up of supporting musicians! As Fliss Dowling, Fliss fronted Reconsider, one of the best blues bands in the south, who played the prestigious Bishopstock Blues Festival. The band split up after a farewell performance at Titchfield's "Blues At The Abbey" last year, and whilst her new husband Mick Downs formed the Mick Downs Band, Fliss put together Sweet Believers. Fans of blues rock giants Amor will be in seventh heaven, as not only is Matt Beable from Amor playing bass for the Sweet Believers on Monday, but front man Jon Amor will be there to perform an opening set of acoustic blues, a new departure for the ex Hoax axeman. You can also see AMOR - the full band - at The Southsea Folk & Roots Festival on Thursday 26th August on South Parade Pier, Southsea. Tickets will be on sale on Monday at the Sweet Believers gig! Entry to all gigs at The R.M.A. Tavern is FREE.
