Two great free gigs at The R.M.A. Tavern, Cromwell Rd., Eastney this weekend! On Saturday 14th August SKUNK FUNK present their own brand of lowdown funky soul as witnessed at The Southsea Show this year. On Friday 13th August the Senagalese musician LAYE SOW , who was the sensation at this year's WOMAD festival, appears at The R.M.A. Laye, who is a Fula musician from the north of Senegal, is one of the latest artists of the genre winning over audiences with a pared down line up of acoustic guitar, light percussion and voice. Laye's music is a smoothly flowing blend of Senagalese folk and American blues sensibilites, and and his songs are clear, clean and striking in their simplicity, underpinned by a subtle web of blues, slide and fingerpicked guitar patterns, and at the R.M.A. Laye will be accompanied by Portsmouth musician Nick Evans from Reet Petite and Gone and more recently Werewolves of London and Obviously Five Believers. AS USUAL - ALL R.M.A. gigs are FREE ENTRY!!!!!!!
