AN SEISIUN, SHAWN JONES & BILLIE JOYCE and FIREGARDEN - ALL FREE

Not two but THREE great free gigs at The R.M.A. Tavern, Cromwell Rd.,
Eastney, next week - hard rock from FIREGARDEN, Celtic high energy from AN SEISIUN &
country blues from SHAWN JONES & BILLIE JOYCE!!

Saturday 7th August:  FIREGARDEN
Firegarden from Sheffield have an infectious onstage enthusiasm meshed with
some heavy riffin' hard rockin' which will draw many a Darkness comparison.
However, visually  Firegarden are more your early '70s jeans and T-shirts heavy
prog rockers  than the '80s style latex-enhanced Van Halen star jumps of The
Darkness.  This band tore the place apart at "Jockstock" Fstival in Bursledon
recently, and proceeded to do the same thing again the following night at The
R.M.A. They weere promptly rebooked, and you'll see why on Saturday!

AN SEISIUN - Monday 9th August
AN SEISIUN get together again after a gap of nearly six months to play their
particular brand of high energy Irish music, with a touch of Appalachian
fiddle music,  Irish reggae, and whatever else fits!

This popular festival band only play sporadically now, since their spiritual
leader, mandolinist Pete Clark, went to live in France, but their back for a
special one off gig, and don't expect to gig again before Christmas. Last
December's gig at The R.M.A. saw  a  full house, with people being turned away at
the door.

Apart from Pete's "90 miles an hour" mandolin, An Seisiun are a moveavble
feast, and has features  a minimum of  five musicians, but have been known to
field  twelve! The lineup also includes  banjo, guitar, bass, bodhrans, spoons,
vocals, fiddle, washboard - you name it, they'll play it....

Tues 10th August SHAWN JONES & BILLIE JOYCE

Shawn Jones  has become a popular fixture in the California  and  Nashville,
and is now about to embark on a U.K tour which takes in The R.M.A Tavern in
Eastney.

“I grew up influenced by my favorite rock guitarists, Clapton and Hendrix”,
says Shawn, “though my father raised me on Hank Williams  and Waylon Jennings.”

Turning the tsbles, Waylon became of fan of Shawn Jones:  “The first time I
saw him”, says Waylon, “it was just Shawn and a guitar in a small room in Los
Angeles. He is a world-class singer, writer and musician all wrapped into one.”

Waylon  invited Shawn  to play on his 1996 release “Right For The Time” and
at Willie Nelson’s 1996 Fourth Of July Picnic. Waylon also asked Shawn to play
lead guitar in his band for the record breaking 1996 Lollapalooza Tour. Shawn
shared “main stage” with  Metallica, Soundgarden, and the Ramones -appearing
in front of in excess of 30,000 fans.

Shawn later spent some time in both Nashville  where he met "Grammy" winner
Steve Wariner, who makes a guest appearance on  “So Here I Am”, on Shawn’s
debut album “Natural Soul”. This song was placed thirdr (out of 3,000) in the
John Lennon International Songwriting Competition in 1999.

Shawn’s song “Invincible Me” was featured in the 100th episode of “Dawson’s
Creek”.  Jones and his band made a cameo appearance in the film “Tumbleweeds”
,  starring Janet McTeer. Two of his songs are heard in the movie, and  “Long
Way Down” has been included on the soundtrack album, where Shawn rub
shoulders with  Johnny Cash, Lyle Lovett, Buck Owens, Emmylou Harris and Lucinda
Williams.

Shawn will be apearing at the RMA with Billie Joyce, from  Saskatchewan
U.S.A., a sultry, husky-voiced blues-rocker in the Bonnie Raitt mold - only
"swampier"!

In the summer of 2002, Billie Joyce recorded and released her debut album
"Love Tone" and  toured  The Netherlands, England and South Eastern States.
