MARK BROWNING (OX) plays a rare gig at the R.M.A. on Friday - FREE
admission!!!!
'Dust Bowl Revival', the third album from folk rock outfit Ox recently became
the first independent album in over a decade to make it to number one in
their native Canada in August. The album was released in the UK in December.
The band have recently embarked on a 10 week European tour, and the "main
man" from OX, singer/songwriter Mark Browning, is coming down to Portsmouth to
perform a one off rare solo gig .
OX's eclectic music has been described as in the vein of The Byrds, The
Flying Burrito Brothers and Neil Young.
Barbara Doll, of Toronto's "Exclaim" webzine said of the band; "This isn’t
just folk music, this is real and this is life. The sweet licks of the guitar
charmed together with the knowing sound of Browning's voice give off such
sweetness. There is peace of mind to be found in the drifting melodies and yet the
depth of meaning in the songs creates a longing for the betterment of mankind."
Mark Browning and Ox's relentless touring over the years has increased their
profile and Browning was nominated for Male Artist of the Year at the West
Coast Music Awards in 2001.
Mark Browning (OX) plays The R.M.A. Tavern in Cromwell Road, Eastney on
Friday 3rd October. Admission is FREE!!!
