Bullfrog Blues Club, Southsea - AYNSLEY LISTER!


THIS WEEK AT THE BULLFROG! 

Wow, what a great month we're having! 

After last week's wonderful gigs by KELLY JOE PHELPS supported by Marcus 
Bancroft on Tuesday and  Thursday's gig by THE PETE HARRIS BAND supported by Sons 
Of The Delta, we've got AYNSLEY LISTER this Thursday (13th November)! 

Although perhaps better known for his appearances with his band,  Aynsley is 
back for one of his acclaimed solo gigs. The Bullfrog is one of Aynsley's 
favourite places to play, as he proved in July 2001 by chosing the venue to record 
his live solo CD,  "Superkev & Pilchards". 

 Doors open at 8 p.m, and tickets are £8, in advance from Wedgewood Rooms Box 
Office (023) 92 863911, or Reflex Records Records Albert Rd., Southsea.

And next  Monday (17th November.... ERIC BIBB!!!!!!!!

 Tickets are going VERY fast for this very special concert, which will be 
held in The Gaiety Suite of South Parade Pier. To avoid disappointmernt buy in 
advance  from  Wedgewood Rooms Box Office (023) 92 863911, or Reflex Records 
Records Albert Rd., Southsea. Tickets are  £12.50 each. 

Eric was born into a musical family in 1951 New York. Eric's father, Leon 
Bibb, made a name for himself as part of the 1960's New York folk scene,  and 
family friends included Pete Seeger, Odetta, Bob Dylan and Paul Robeson, who is 
also Eric's godfather. . As if this wasn't enough of a fine pedigree, his uncle 
was John Lewis,  the world famous Jazz pianist and composer of the Modern 
Jazz Quartet,

Growing up surrounded by talent, Eric was given his first steel guitar aged 
seven.  Eric recalls a childhood conversation with Bob Dylan, who, on the 
subject of guitar playing advised the 11-year-old Eric to "Keep it simple, forget 
all that fancy stuff". 

Eric has  an  international reputation and   with his band has played  major 
venues and festivals all over the world, including two appearances at 
Glastonbury and  Cambridge Folk Festival.   In the USA he's appeared at  Chicago World 
Music Festival and San Francisco Jazz Festival,.. He has appeared on major TV 
and radio shows including "Later with Jools Holland" and "The Late Late 
Show". 

Eric joined Robert Cray on two U.S. tour stints in 2001 and 2002 and opened 
for Ray Charles in the summer of 2002. 

Eric's talent has been recognised with a Grammy Nomination  and no less than 
four W.C.Handy nominations.
