Welcome to this months newsletter, A great start to the year so far, the first two Auckland Jams of 2020 were particularly well attended. The blues jam at the Auckland Arms (Netley Road Southsea PO5 3NB) takes place on the on the first Sunday lunchtime of the month, starting from around 12:30, arrive closer to 12:00 noon if you want to play and need to setup. There is usually a bass amp available, and whilst we don't mind if you bring your guitar amp there is often one you can borrow. It's a good idea to bring your instrument though! There is an acoustic piano. We don't generally have a drum kit, due to space / volume restrictions, but you're welcome to bring along a cajon or snare / hihat. All players and singers of any standard and any instrument are welcome. Do come down it's great fun and getting better. Your also very welcome if you just want to listen, many do! ** Acoustic Guitar Video Blog ** I added a new episode to my long running acoustic guitar video blog back in January this one featured a demonstration of some travis picking combined with simple slide guitar licks. Next step is to make it "mobile friendly" then I plan to add several sections to enable me to add extra details about my video and lessons and more, maybe even the odd blog about home-made wine, got some 'orange' on the go at the moment! I'll let you know when the work is done and ready to view! ** Jazz ** For the last few months I have been working with Mags Wylie to resurrect our jazz guitar and bass duo. We are now ready to go and will be playing out first gig at the Spring arts centre in Havant at the end of the month. Come down for some blues tinged jazz tunes and a few songs. We will be looking for suitable gigs soon after, let me know if you have any suggestions. ** Gigs ** Saturday 15th February The Station Arms, Southminster, Essex Andy Broad - Stompin Solo Blues.
