Portsmouth based blues band "The Rhythm Kings", sometimes advertised as "Andy Broad's Rhythm Kings" have decided on a change of name. As they are now working regularly with their new drummer Russ Tarley, the band decided on a fresh start with a new name. The decision was taken shortly after their last gig at The Boarhunt Village Blues Club but as always finding a name for the band is always the hardest part of being a muso and so the name wasn't decided upon untill last weekend. "The Rhythm Kings" did their last gig under that name at the Blues At The Fort Festival (Fort Purbrook Cosham) on Friday 19th September and the first under the new name "The Continentals" on Sunday September 21st at the RHU bar in Basingstoke. (BTW both gigs were excellently attended and the promoters went out of their way to make the bands comfortable and ready to play at their best.) "The Continentals" next gig will (appropriately) be at The Boarhunt Village Blues Club on October 17th. The club is held at the Boarhunt Village Social Club, North Boarhunt, just north of Portsmouth.
